Words aren’t enough..

May 27th, 2007 by limerick-filipino

My special thanks to Kuya William Fabian for being so kind enough from saving me the trouble in finding someone to render the inspirational message. The one who was originally assigned didn’t arrived due to some health problems. Kuya Wil was already assigned to give the welcome address and I was so glad and relieved that he accepted the other one to add to his repertoire. But he rendered them well. He was brilliant. He really is the "KUYA" of Limerick.

Special thanks too to Lito Flores, Jing Bagalacsa, Malou Enoc, Tony Pangilinan, Kathy Quiroz, Jessica Andres and Laura Cabardo. Their presence and support were invaluable. I was happy and found comfort to see them. In their own simple ways, they were instrumental to the success of the sportsfest’s openning day.

Lastly, special thanks to all the LFC members and players. They are the integral part of the sportsfest; the "heart and soul." I highly appreciated their participation and cooperation.

So, on behalf of the All Filipino Inter-County Summer Sportsfest ‘07 organizers and committees, my heartfelt gratitude to the Limerick Filipino Community for their presence, support and participation. Indeed, words aren’t enough to convey them.

May God showers you all with the fullness of His love.

Godbless!

Extremely Overwhelmed

May 22nd, 2007 by limerick-filipino

"We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community…Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and needs of others, for their sakes and for our own."

I am extremely overwhelmed of the progress made by the Limerick Filipino Community, as a whole, despite its early stages and impending formalities. And I am in awed of the achievements it has achieved in the recent months. There’s no doubt that the LFC is going forward and moving a step closer to the next level.

"For a community to be whole and healthy, it must be based on people’s love and concern for each other."

The honors and accolades the LFC has gained and received are great manifestations of the love, cooperation, concern, and hardwork invested in it. It also shows that unity has its sweetest profits. It is travelling in the right direction and moving in the right path. There maybe some obstacles along the way, but with its strongest foundations, wrapped with a single dream, I’m positive it can stand the test of time - "together we stand, divided we fall."

"The common characteristics of people make a community possible, but it is their uncommon qualities that make it better."

Diversity, despite its cynicism, has its own advantage. Ideas, opinions, and philosophies may differ from one another and sometimes, may lead to argumentations, but in a positive note, it is healthy. Healthy, in a sense, it shows the will and desire to better and improve more the LFC thus, the sharing and interaction. At the end of the day, it has reached a certain point where the LFC’s interest will benefit from it and agreed upon by the community.

Credits to all the people behind the LFC. They have served the community unconditionally and well. I encourage them to continue what they have started doing; but I discourage them to use the LFC for personal gains and for self-interests. Any selfish motives that may jeopardize the harmony and the flow of peace of the LFC must not be tolerated. Think of the community AS A WHOLE, not individually. A brighter future awaits.

Congratulations and goodluck.

THE LIMERICK FILIPINO COMMUNITY JOINS LIMERICK RIVER FEST 2007

May 10th, 2007 by limerick-filipino

The Limerick Filipino Community (LFC) had recently participated the Limerick City River Fest 2007 with  Castletroy Park Hotel  sous chef - Ding "Racko" Tornandizo leading his team  composed of  Lito  Flores ( Kitchen Staff - St. Vincent’s  Centre ),  Manny  Lingat  (  Production Staff - Dell, Inc. ) and Marilou Enoc as Assist Chef ( Grange House - Crecora ).

The Team breeze through the competition - Irish International  BBQ  Cook-off with flying colours  winning  1st Prize in the Chicken BBQ Category and 2nd Prize in the Vegetarian BBQ Category last Saturday 5 May 2007. The LFC Team were ably supported by KARLA FABIAN, JONES BUCAG, RAQUIEL LINGAT, ERIKA MONASTERIO, TOHNEE PANGILINAN, PAOLO ANTONIO and DANNY MANANSALA.

Overseeing the LFC’s participation were Interim Chairman WILLIAM FABIAN, Secretary JING BAGALACSA, ARNEL DAVID and JOSEFINO JOSE.

With the Saturday’s Team Achievement, LFC was invited to the WORLD CHEF BBQ COOK OFF for Sunday 6 May 2007 as SATURDAY’S CHAMPION. The Team will be competing against 4 other Team selected of our 75 countries that participated in the Saturday Event together with 6 other teams from Dublin. The LFC Team will be the only non-Hotel & Restaurant Entry against the prestigious Hotels and Restaurants in Limerick and Dublin.

The LFC Team of Ding Tornandizo dished out their best menu with a touch of Filipino fine taste and had earned the appreciation of the discerning palates of the big time judges. Though, we didn’t get any major award for the WORLD CHEF BBQ COOK OFF, we gathered, that we fare very well in each category. We almost got 2 categories - LAMB and FISH CATEGORY losing by just .2 pts and .5 pts to the winner garnering 96.2 pts, and 95.5 pts. We are way above all the rest of the team contending averaging 95 pts.

We are all proud of our LFC Team - The Team to Beat! We all say "keep up the good work". Let this be an inspiration to all Filipinos in Limerick and nearby counties - "In Unity, there is Strength and Camaraderie".

PROUD TO BE PINOY ! MABUHAY TAYONG LAHAT

WILLIAM FABIAN
